There’s five or six legitimate names buzzing around as possible replacement candidates for Kenny Payne at Louisville.
Now 6-14 and dead last in the ACC in his second season, following a listless 4-28 opening salvo, Payne’s all but gone as soon as a second straight losing season concludes in good ole Lou-a-vuhl.
Attendance is down, basketball revenue didn’t hit ‘conservative’ budget projections and fans are in open revolt on social media trending #KennyPayne on X.com, formally Twitter, after every ugly loss. Payne, now 10-42 overall, has been a disaster of epic proportions for one of elite brands in college hoops.
Above the fray, there’s one potential replacement head and shoulders above the field. And while there’s controversy involved, it may be the only realistic move that would instantly reawaken the frustrated Sleeping Giant in Louisville.
