Kenny Payne turns focus to luring Mackenzie Mgbako to Louisville

Louisville's head basketball coach hopes to add star power to the Cardinals roster with his program's last open scholarship

A Derby Day commitment from key USC transfer guard Tre White, means one thing for Kenny Payne and the Louisville Cardinals:

All recruiting focus now shifts to landing Top 10 ranked 2023 forward Mackenzie Mgbako. 

Mgbako, a do-it-all McDonald’s All-American, has been the central focus of Payne’s recruiting efforts since backing out of his Duke letter of intent last month. 

Louisville, the presumed frontrunner from the start of Mgbako’s re-recruitment, now has one final scholarship left to fill for next season. And it is clearly reserved for Mgbako.
