Jeff Brohm using transfer portal to bolster key positions on both sides of football
Louisville head coach breaks down key positions Louisville is targeting in the transfer portal this spring
Once spring practice wraps up Friday night, Louisville coach Jeff Brohm intends to turn complete focus to the transfer portal to improve his programs roster for the 2023 season.
“Recruiting possible transfers is the priority right now to try to improve our roster,” Brohm said this week. “We’re not going to make any additions that we don’t think will help our team.”
Brohm said Wednesday on his radio show that his coaching staff and recruiting assistants constantly field contact from handlers and former coaches about potential transfers. He says there are two main areas on offense that his program will focus their portal work.
"On the offensive line we have some concerns,” Brohm said. "We feel like we have three really experienced guys in Bryan Hudson, Renato Brown and Michael Gonzalez. They’ve done a very good job and we feel very confident they can compete at a very high level. Behind that we have to improve and continue to get better. We still need to work hard developing depth to get as good as we can.
"The tight end position we just don’t have a lot of experience. We’ve got to continue to improve that area. On offense those are probably the main areas we want to concentrate on if we see some players in the portal that we think will fit.”
